Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new oil refinery in the El-Hamra Basin in Hassi Messaoud, further strengthening the country’s energy sector.
This project is part of the implementation of directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during the most recent meetings of the Council of Ministers, where he emphasised the importance of revitalising this initiative. The refinery will help refine oil to produce additional quantities of gasoline and diesel. Moreover, the new facility will significantly boost Algeria’s national production capacities, helping the country achieve self-sufficiency in petroleum products and supporting the new sector strategy.
