Zionist forces’ attack kills a citizen in southern Lebanon

The Zionist forces’ drone strike on a vehicle in Kawthariyet al-Siyad in south Lebanon on Sunday killed one person and wounded another, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported, citing the health ministry.

An “Israeli enemy strike on a vehicle in Kaoutariyet as-Siyad”, located inland between the southern cities of Sidon and Tyre, killed “one person and wounded another”, the health ministry said in a statement.

In this regard, the Lebanese authorities have reported more than 1,470 Zionist violations of the truce, killing at least 130 people and injuring 375 others.

Under the ceasefire deal, the occupation forces were supposed to fully withdraw from southern Lebanon by Jan. 26, but the deadline was extended to Feb. 18 after the Zionist entity refused to comply, maintaining a military presence at five border outposts.

Separately, the Lebanese army announced that it had foiled an attempt to launch rockets toward the Zionist entity.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Sunday that Lebanon will place all weapons under state control, but will wait for the “right conditions” to determine how to execute it.

“The Lebanese people do not want war, and therefore the armed forces are the only body responsible for Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence,” he said following a meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Al-Rai.
