Yemen Reopens Vital Highway Linking Aden and Sanaa After Seven Years

The Yemeni government has announced the reopening of a key highway connecting the southern port city of Aden to the capital, Sanaa, after being closed for seven years.
In a statement shared on social media, Ali Muqbil Saleh, the governor of the southern province of Dhalea, described the move as “an important step toward improving living conditions and the humanitarian situation in the country.” He also expressed hope that the reopening would enhance “communication and cooperation between Yemen’s various regions.”
Previously, travelers had to undertake a grueling and dangerous journey of over 600 kilometers using alternative routes. With the reopened highway, the travel distance between Sanaa and Aden will now be reduced to approximately 360 kilometers.
