World’s Best Referee 2024: Algerian Mustapha Ghorbal Nominated (IFFHS)

Algerian international referee Mustapha Ghorbal has been nominated for the title of Best Referee in the World for 2024, according to a list released by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
Recognized as one of the leading referees on the African continent, Ghorbal has enjoyed a successful year in 2024, notably officiating the first leg of the Champions League final between ES Tunis and Al Ahly at the Hamadi-Agrebi Stadium in Radès.
Since becoming an international referee in 2014, Ghorbal also officiated the final match of the 57th edition of the Algerian Cup in 2024, which featured MC Alger and CR Belouizdad, concluding with a score of 0-1.
Alongside Ghorbal, the nominees for the Best Referee in the World award in 2024 include 19 other referees, among them Mauritanian Beida Dahane.
The Best Referee in the World award will be presented in January, as announced by the federation. The most recent recipient of this honor was Polish referee Szymon Marciniak, who officiated the final of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar between Argentina and France.
