UNRWA Says Has Enough to Feed All of Gaza ‘For Three Months’

The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) on Thursday welcomed an agreement calling for an end to the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip, calling it a “huge relief,” and said it has enough supplies to feed all of Gaza “for three months.”

“We have food, medicines + other basic supplies ready to go to Gaza,” said Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the agency, speaking on social media.

“We have enough to provide food for the entire population for the coming three months,” he added.

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas announced it had reached an agreement providing for the end of the Zionist aggression in Gaza, withdrawal of occupation forces, entry of humanitarian aid, and prisoner exchanges.

This “will bring respite to people who survived the worst bombardment, displacement, loss and grief for two long years,” Lazzarini said.

UNRWA said it still had about 12,000 employees in Gaza, and Lazzarini emphasized Thursday that these teams were “essential in implementing this agreement, notably to provide basic services such as healthcare and education.”

“There are over 660,000 children who are eagerly waiting to go back to school,” he said, stressing that UNRWA teachers stand ready to help them fulfil that.

“I call on all member states to support UNRWA to do its work to assist people in need in the coming critical period,” added Lazzarini.
