UNRWA: Gaza Tragedies Continue Unabated Amid Aid Restrictions and Global Silence

NEW YORK – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini warned that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues without pause, even as global attention drifts elsewhere.
In a statement published on the agency’s website, Lazzarini said dozens of Palestinians have been killed or wounded in recent days, including starving civilians attempting to access food amid what he described as a “deadly distribution system.”
He condemned ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza, including UNRWA assistance, despite the availability of large amounts of aid awaiting entry. He also highlighted the impact of a deepening fuel shortage, which is crippling health and water services. Lazzarini stressed that continued killings will only lead to more conflict and bloodshed, and urged the international community to show political will, leadership, and courage to stop the suffering.
