UN Expert : ‘Israel’ Using Water as Weapon in Gaza, 2.1 Million Face Severe Crisis

The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Gaza, Pedro Agudo, warned Wednesday that around 2.1 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing an acute water crisis, with nearly 70% of the territory’s water infrastructure destroyed by Zionist forces.
In a press statement, Agudo said the destruction of water systems and denial of access to clean water by the occupying power amounts to a “silent but deadly bomb.” He stressed that most residents either receive severely limited quantities of water or are forced to consume contaminated supplies, posing grave health risks.
Agudo emphasized that the Zionist entity’s blockade since October 2023 has choked off essential resources including water, fuel, and electricity. He warned that the intentional targeting of Gaza’s water systems constitutes the use of water as a weapon of war, with daily per capita access now reduced to only 5 liters—far below the level needed for basic survival.
