UN Agencies Call for Urgent Funding as Humanitarian Needs Rise in Lebanon

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF expressed concern over the escalating humanitarian needs in Lebanon amid growing tensions, urging a collective effort to secure “additional funding” for relief efforts.

The agencies stated, “As relief organizations, we recognize that humanitarian needs are increasing. While we are committed to providing immediate assistance, it is critical to mobilize support for an expanded response. We urgently need additional, unconditional funding to provide aid.” They also stressed the immediate necessity of a “ceasefire.”
