Turkish, German Presidents Advocate “Two-State Solution”

ANKARA, February 6, 2025 – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier jointly rejected proposals on Wednesday aimed at relocating Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, reaffirming their commitment to a two-state solution in contrast to recent suggestions from the United States.

“The proposals to relocate Palestinians from Gaza or force them into exile are unacceptable under international law,” President Steinmeier stated during a joint press conference in Ankara, referencing U.S. President Donald Trump’s suggestion made on Tuesday to move millions of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries.

The German president emphasized that Germany will continue to advocate for a two-state solution, especially in future discussions with the American administration.

President Erdogan stressed that it is the responsibility of the international community to uphold the ceasefire and work towards a solution based on the coexistence of two states.

“Today’s consultations are crucial for our collaborative efforts toward peace and stability in our neighboring regions,” Erdogan remarked, highlighting Turkey’s ongoing partnership with Germany.
