Turkey: 153 Suspected Daesh Members Arrested

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Friday that 153 individuals suspected of affiliation with the self-proclaimed terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS/Daesh) have been arrested across Turkey.

“Over the past two weeks, our gendarmerie has conducted operations against the IS terrorist organization in 28 provinces, resulting in the apprehension of 153 alleged members of this group,” the ministry stated on social media.

The detained suspects are accused of being affiliated with a terrorist organization, providing financial support to entities linked to IS/Daesh, and “propagandizing for the terrorist organization through their social media accounts,” the statement added.

According to the list of affected provinces, these arrests took place nationwide, spanning from Izmir in the west to Hatay and Mardin in the southeast, and from Samsun in the north to Mugla in the southwest.

The minister emphasized that these operations were carried out based on Turkish intelligence and international cooperation.
