Syrian government seizes strategic town in Raqqa

The Syrian Army established full control of the strategic al-Tabqah district in Raqqa province after expelling the “SDF” forces, state media reported early Sunday.
The Syrian Army Operations Department said government forces secured the district and cleared it of the “SDF” forces, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
Sunday’s military push into Tabqa in the province of Raqqa is viewed as critical due to a dam that controls the southward flow.
The Euphrates Dam is a critical infrastructure for Syria’s water and energy supply.
The Syrian Army also seized the Omar oil field, the country’s largest, and the Conoco gas field in the eastern Deir Zor province, officials and security sources said on Sunday.
