Slovenia’s Deputy PM Hails Rapid Progress in Political and Economic Cooperation with Algeria

The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, stated on Tuesday that political and economic cooperation between the two countries is advancing rapidly. In a statement to the press following the audience granted to her by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Tanja Fajon emphasized that the meeting centered on relations between the two friendly nations, Algeria and Slovenia, which she deemed “fruitful.”
“Political and economic cooperation is stepping up rapidly, with several Slovenian companies currently operating in Algeria, along with Slovenian government representatives collaborating to foster bilateral ties,” she added. She also commended the positive outcomes of the President of the Republic’s “successful” visit to Slovenia last May, which culminated in the signing of several agreements. According to her, holding the first session of the Algeria-Slovenia Joint Economic Commission will serve “further boost bilateral cooperation and expand business relations between the two countries.” “Algeria and Slovenia share many common values and are committed to close collaboration in Africa through development projects,” she continued.
The Slovenian official highlighted talks on “potential cooperation in renewable energy, port sector digitalization, artificial intelligence, pharmaceutical industry, and agriculture,” underscoring “numerous cooperation opportunities.” She expressed satisfaction with the “development of bilateral cooperation both economically and politically,” recalling the recent establishment in both countries. Tanja Fajon further emphasized that the two countries “cooperate closely as non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council amid a particularly complex geopolitical context,” noting that the meeting with the President of the Republic provided an opportunity to discuss the situation in Gaza and the Middle East. “We called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the war in Gaza,” she stated.
