Sahrawi Human Rights Group CODESA Joins World Organisation Against Torture

OCCUPIED LAAYOUNE – The Collective of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) has officially joined the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT), an international network comprising over 200 human rights organizations worldwide.
In a statement released Tuesday, CODESA said its membership in the OMCT—made possible through the support of several human rights groups—will strengthen the protection of Sahrawi human rights defenders and victims who face mounting dangers due to the severe restrictions imposed on Sahrawi rights movements in Western Sahara.
CODESA emphasized that this affiliation will also help expand international advocacy spaces against human rights violations, including torture and extrajudicial executions, committed by Moroccan occupation forces against Sahrawi civilians in the region.
The organization expressed gratitude to the OMCT and the international entities that welcomed its application, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the principles of human rights and international justice. CODESA pledged to use this platform to amplify the voices of victims and expose the abuses committed by the Moroccan occupation in Western Sahara before global public opinion and international legal bodies.
