Russia declares a state of emergency in the Voronezh region following a nighttime drone attack

VORONEZH – Russia has declared a state of emergency in the Ostrogozhsky District of the Voronezh Region following an overnight drone attack, local governor Alexander Gusev said in his Telegram channel.

“The state of emergency was introduced in the territory of three settlements for the response to the consequences of fire and the detonation of explosive items in the Ostrogozhsky District. One village and one gardeners’ partnership were evacuated – about 200 people in total. An emergency shelter was opened, but almost all people were accommodated by relatives,” the governor said.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, five drones were intercepted. Nevertheless, two women were injured, one of them was in a critical state.

The attack caused no damage to civilian buildings, except for a potential power supply interruption.
