Putin’s Visit to India in the Works, Confirms Russian Foreign Minister

Arrangements are underway for Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed in a video address at the “Russia and India: Toward a New Bilateral Agenda” conference, hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC).
Lavrov stated that Putin has accepted an invitation from the Indian leadership, and preparations for the visit are in progress. He emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Moscow and New Delhi, highlighting the reciprocal nature of diplomatic engagements. He also recalled that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi chose Russia as his first foreign visit after his re-election last year, adding, “Now it’s our turn.”
The visit is expected to reinforce the strategic partnership between Russia and India, covering key areas such as defense, trade, and energy cooperation. Both nations have maintained close ties despite geopolitical challenges, and Putin’s upcoming trip signals continued commitment to bilateral cooperation.
