Prisoners Authority: Female Detainees Endure Inhumane and Unbearable Conditions in Zionist Prisons

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported Monday that female prisoners at Damon Prison are facing inhumane and extremely unbearable conditions.

According to the Commission, citing its lawyer who recently visited the detainees, the food provided is poor in both quantity and quality, causing digestive problems among the prisoners, with all of them experiencing significant weight loss.

The Commission highlighted the case of prisoner Karam Musa, 53, from the town of Surra in the Nablus Governorate, who was arrested on February 25, 2025. Musa was placed in a blood-stained, extremely dirty cell with no space for prayer, no food, and only a small mattress. She stated that the food provided after her interrogation led to severe constipation and was insufficient for the number of prisoners, noting that a single plate of legumes was shared among eight detainees. The break period, previously longer, has also been reduced to one hour, primarily used for showering.

The Commission further reported the case of 44-year-old Hanin Jaber from Nour Shams, who lost eight kilograms during her five months of detention due to malnutrition. Jaber was arrested on December 3, 2024, while walking with her children, on charges of sheltering and feeding her son, whom Zionist authorities claim is “wanted.”

Meanwhile, prisoner Fidaa Suhail Assaf, 49, from Kafr Laqif in the Qalqilya Governorate, has been battling leukemia for a year prior to her detention. Zionist forces raided Assaf’s home on February 24, 2025, detaining her under accusations of incitement on social media. She was transferred to Damon Prison, with a court hearing scheduled for May 21, 2025. The Commission confirmed that Assaf’s health condition remains stable as she continues to take her prescribed medication.

Additionally, the Commission’s lawyer visited Shahd Majed Hassan, 23, from Ramallah, who has been held under administrative detention since March 5, 2025. Hassan described her ordeal, stating, “I was detained from my home, then transferred to Ofer Prison, then to Beit El, then to Hasharon Prison for one night, and finally to Damon. It was a journey of torture. The treatment was extremely poor. I was kept shackled the entire time and subjected to insults and humiliation along the way.”
