Palestinian Calls for International Probe into Prisoner Deaths in Zionist Jails

Head of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, Abdullah Al-Zaghari, has called for an independent international investigation into the deaths of dozens of Palestinian detainees inside Zionist prisons amid escalating abuses against them.

The demand comes following the deaths of four Palestinian prisoners in Zionist custody within days, underscoring what Al-Zaghari described as a “continuing humanitarian catastrophe in the bloodiest period in the history of the Palestinian prisoner movement.”

Al-Zaghari stated that crimes against prisoners have escalated to levels reminiscent of those seen at the onset of the war on Gaza. Despite mounting evidence of systematic violations, he lamented the international community’s continued silence.

He further revealed that recently released Palestinian prisoners and their families have been subjected to systematic intimidation, including direct threats against those who disclose the abuses they endured in detention, ranging from torture and starvation to medical neglect and physical assaults.

Al-Zaghari reiterated the need for an independent probe into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of these detainees and called for decisive action to hold Israeli officials accountable for what he described as ongoing war crimes against Palestinians.

According to Palestinian statistics, at least 62 prisoners have died in Zionist custody since the start of the war on Gaza, with 40 of them from the besieged enclave. The alarming death toll raises concerns about the worsening conditions inside Israeli prisons amid a lack of international intervention.
