Museveni Reaffirms NAM’s Support for Palestine

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni reaffirmed the Non-Aligned Movement’s (NAM) commitment to achieving a just and peaceful solution to the Palestinian question, during the 19th NAM Ministerial Meeting held in Kampala.
Presiding over the meeting of NAM foreign ministers, Museveni said Wednesday that “under Uganda’s chairmanship, the Movement has consistently supported the Palestinian cause on the international stage.”
He reiterated NAM’s “commitment to finding a just and peaceful solution to the issue,” stressing that “the two-state solution remains the only legitimate path to ending the conflict.”
Museveni also highlighted the Movement’s ongoing diplomatic efforts, particularly its call on the international community to recognize the State of Palestine and support its admission to the United Nations as a full member.
Held under the theme “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,” the ministerial meeting opened on October 13 with the participation of political leaders and diplomatic representatives from member states and is set to conclude Thursday.
The Palestinian delegation is led by Riyad Mansour, Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
