Messi’s Two Goals Leads Miami to Leagues Cup Final

Lionel Messi put on a show Wednesday night, netting two late goals to propel Inter Miami to a 3-1 win over Orlando City and secure their spot in the Leagues Cup final.
After sitting out two games with a right thigh injury, the Argentine superstar made his presence felt by equalizing with a penalty in the 77th minute. He then teamed up with Jordi Alba just 11 minutes later to give Miami the lead.
In stoppage time, Telasco Segovia sealed the deal with a third goal, ensuring Miami’s progression to the finals. They previously claimed the title in 2023, Messi’s first season in the U.S.
Miami will face off against the Seattle Sounders in the final after they took down LA Galaxy in their semifinal showdown. Notably, four Major League Soccer (MLS) teams made it to the semifinals of this tournament, which is co-hosted with Mexico’s Liga MX.
