Lebanon: Over 40 Rescuers and Firefighters Killed in Three Days

Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad announced on Thursday that more than 40 rescuers and firefighters have been killed in Zionist strikes across Lebanon over the past three days.

Since the onset of the ongoing aggression against Lebanon in October 2023, a total of 97 rescuers and firefighters have lost their lives, according to the minister.

In Geneva, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reported that “28 healthcare professionals” were killed in the last 24 hours in Lebanon.

“We had planned to deliver a significant shipment of medical supplies to Lebanon tomorrow. Unfortunately, this has not been possible due to the near-total closure of Beirut’s airport,” Dr. Tedros explained.

Currently, only one airline, Middle East Airlines (MEA), is operating flights to Beirut, while strikes are targeting the southern suburbs of the capital near the airport.

Earlier, the Lebanese Health Minister provided an updated toll indicating that 1,974 individuals have been killed, including 127 children and 261 women, with an additional 9,384 reported injured in Lebanon since the escalation of the aggression.
