Lavrov Warns Macron’s Nuclear Threats Could Drag NATO Into War with Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent remarks on the potential use of nuclear weapons, calling them a direct threat to Russia. Lavrov condemned the statements as reckless and dangerous, warning that such rhetoric only escalates tensions.
Lavrov also noted that Macron’s overall stance on Ukraine and Russia appears increasingly “nervous.” He emphasized that Ukraine would be incapable of launching missile strikes without intelligence support from the United States and the United Kingdom. According to Lavrov, the Ukraine conflict could be resolved if Western nations ceased supplying arms to Kiev.
The Russian foreign minister reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness for frank negotiations to end the conflict, but stressed that Russia’s top priority remains its national security. He dismissed any compromise on the potential deployment of European peacekeepers in Ukraine, warning that such a move would signify NATO’s direct involvement in war with Russia.
