Lavrov Dismisses Macron’s Claims of Russian Threat to Europe as Absurd

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent statement regarding an alleged Russian threat to the European Union, calling it unintelligent and baseless.

Speaking at a press conference following talks with Zimbabwean Foreign Minister Amon Murwira, Lavrov dismissed Macron’s accusations, emphasizing that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly rejected such claims as absurd. He stated that Russia has no interest in waging war against Europe or France.

Lavrov further explained that Moscow’s main objective is to address the root causes of the Ukraine crisis, which he attributed to Western interference aimed at exerting control over Ukraine and using it as a battleground against Russia.
