Kremlin Offers Mediation as Trump Signals Openness to Russian Role in Middle East Crisis

The Kremlin said Monday it is prepared to do everything necessary to address the root causes of the escalating Middle East crisis, as U.S. President Donald Trump indicated he would be open to Russian President Vladimir Putin mediating between the Zionist entity and Iran.
Speaking to reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Russia remains ready to do whatever is necessary to eliminate the root causes of this crisis. The situation has escalated more than seriously.” He reiterated Moscow’s readiness to mediate between the two sides if required.
Peskov’s comments follow Trump’s remarks to ABC News on Sunday, where the U.S. president said he would welcome Putin’s involvement in resolving the conflict. Putin had already spoken separately with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Zionist Prime Minister Netanyahu, offering to mediate the fast-developing crisis.
Highlighting Russia’s direct contacts with both Tel Aviv and Tehran, Peskov warned against actions that endanger Russian citizens. He confirmed that some Russians had already been evacuated from Iran through Azerbaijan and criticized Netanyahu’s recent remarks suggesting Zionist attacks could lead to regime change in Iran. “We are noting a significant consolidation of society in Iran against the backdrop of the bombings carried out by the Israeli side,” he said.
Peskov also reminded that Russia’s previous proposal to store Iranian uranium remains valid but acknowledged that the recent escalation has further complicated the nuclear issue. The conflict erupted Friday when the Zionist entity launched airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, triggering retaliatory missile attacks from Tehran. The Zionist entity reported at least 24 deaths, while Iran said over 224 people were killed and more than 1,000 wounded.
