Kremlin Condemns Kyiv’s Attacks on Russian Territory, Cites Obstacles to Peace Efforts

The Kremlin on Monday condemned Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory, stating that such actions directly undermine ongoing peace efforts.

In a press briefing, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, “It is clear that not everything is simple. There is a desire to speed up the resolution of issues, but the essence of the situation related to solving the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict is extremely complex.” He added that efforts toward a Ukrainian settlement are ongoing but remain inherently complicated.

Peskov also pointed to Europe’s continued indirect involvement in the conflict by supplying weapons to Kyiv, stressing that “such behavior does not contribute to reaching a peaceful settlement.”

He further accused certain media outlets of taking part in efforts to disrupt the negotiation process, saying they “participate in the campaign aimed at obstructing negotiations on Ukraine and encourage the United States to impose new sanctions.”

Regarding prisoner exchange talks between Russia and the United States, Peskov confirmed there is political will to implement the agreements reached, noting, “Moscow greatly values Washington’s readiness to fulfill these agreements.”
