Iran Dismisses Allegations of Plotting Against Trump as Baseless and Politically Motivated

Iranian officials have firmly rejected recent accusations from American authorities suggesting that Iran plotted to assassinate U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. In a statement, an Iranian spokesperson denounced the claims as “completely baseless” and questioned both their timing and intent, labeling them as “very suspicious.” According to the official, these accusations reflect a persistent pattern within the American judicial system of using unproven claims to paint Iran in a negative light.
The Iranian spokesperson further criticized American authorities for compromising their own credibility by promoting narratives lacking substantive evidence. Drawing parallels to a similar claim in 2011, when the U.S. alleged that Iran attempted to assassinate a high-ranking regional official, the spokesperson suggested that such allegations are aimed at driving a wedge between Iran and neighboring countries. Describing these moves as “mine planting” in diplomatic relations, the official argued that they only serve to undermine regional stability.
