IMF/WB: Algeria’s Central Bank Governor Joins Annual Meetings in Washington

The Governor of the Bank of Algeria, Salah Eddine Taleb, is participating in the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) in Washington from October 21 to 26, as announced by the institution on Tuesday.

The meetings will address several critical topics, including the challenges associated with post-pandemic monetary policy and the prospects for reforms within the Fund aimed at meeting the economic development needs of its member countries, according to the same source.

During this event, Taleb will act as a constituency representative at the plenary session of the IMF’s International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), where he will deliver a speech.

Furthermore, he is scheduled to participate in a meeting with the countries of MENAP (Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan), alongside IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. He is also expected to engage in discussions within the African Caucus and hold meetings with the heads of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department, as well as the Middle East and Central Asia Department of the Fund.

The Governor’s agenda includes bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other central banks, as highlighted by the same source.
