Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said Friday that the historical legacy of Algeria was a “strong foundation” for today’s independent nation-state that fought and triumphed through the Revolution of November, in the face of ordeals and sufferings.”
In a message marking the Victory Day (March 19th), President Tebboune said “the celebration of the historical event as well as other national holidays is a tribute to the sacrifices of our valiant heroes who joined the Revolution in forests and valleys… they suffered and endured, proudly and bravely, the horrors of the combat that led to liberty and dignity.”
“Loyal to the historical legacy of their predecessors, the Algerian men and women who laid strong foundations for today’s independent nation-state that fought and triumphed through the Revolution of November, in the face of ordeals and sufferings,” he said.
“We celebrate tomorrow the 60th anniversary of the national historical day that was the culmination of the sacrifices of the Algerian people and our numerous brave martyrs, a symbol of victory and liberation from the colonial yoke.”
“The announcement of the ceasefire after the negotiations of Evian was a victory that spelled the end of injustice and the barbarity of the aggressor, lulled into an impression of its ability to distort our identity and erase our civilization, culture and heritage but it was without counting on the will of a free people, determined to remain free, authentic and genuine,” the president of the Republic stressed.
