Gruesome Discovery in Mexico: At Least Five Dismembered Bodies Found in Van

At least five dismembered human bodies were discovered on Thursday inside a van in Guanajuato, a state in central Mexico where a bloody cartel war has been ongoing, according to local authorities.

The bodies were found wrapped in plastic bags and stacked on top of each other in the back of an abandoned van, discovered by police in Cupareo, within the municipality of Salvatierra.

The number of bodies is estimated to be between five and seven, sources close to the investigation reported.

Guanajuato, a major industrial hub and tourist destination, recorded the highest number of homicides in Mexico in 2023, with 3,746 murders, accounting for over 12% of the country’s total, according to official statistics.
