Germany’s Auto Industry Faces Crisis as Thousands of Unsold Cars Pile Up

A sprawling parking lot in Germany is packed with thousands of unsold vehicles, including electric models, as rising prices and poor infrastructure dampen demand. The backlog includes German-made cars like Volkswagens and Audis, with some sitting for over a year, an employee at the facility revealed.

The employee cited the slow uptake of electric vehicles (EVs) as a major factor, describing the e-car strategy as “not going well.” Volkswagen, one of the hardest-hit manufacturers, reported declining sales last October and announced cost-cutting measures amidst widespread labor strikes.

As the country grapples with transitioning to EVs, challenges like inadequate charging infrastructure and high costs are creating significant barriers, leaving Germany’s once-thriving auto sector struggling to adapt.
