Gaza ceasefire goes into effect after 470 days of genocide

GAZA – The ceasefire deal in Gaza has gone into effect on Sunday after a nearly three-hour delay during which the Zionist occupation attacks resulted in at least 19 Palestinian martyrs and 36 wounded, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense.
The occupation has confirmed receiving the names of the three captives to be released on the first day of the agreement’s implementation after 14:00 GMT.
Meanwhile, about 95 Palestinian prisoners are expected to be freed on the first day in line with the deal.
Residents and a medical worker in Gaza said that they had heard no new fighting or military strikes since about half an hour before it was finally implemented.
The six-week initial ceasefire phase includes the gradual withdrawal of the occupation forces from central Gaza and the return of displaced Palestinians to the north.
The deal requires 600 truckloads of humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza every day of the ceasefire, 50 carrying fuel, with 300 of the trucks allocated to the north, where conditions for civilians are particularly harsh.
The Government Media Office in Gaza said thousands of Palestinian police officers have been deployed “as part of a government plan to maintain security and order across various governorates,” adding that municipalities have started “reopening and rehabilitating streets.”
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said it has 4,000 truckloads of humanitarian assistance ready to enter the Gaza Strip, with half of them carrying food and flour.
The Zionist occupation’s genocidal war on Gaza over the past 470 days has resulted in at least 46,899 Palestinian martyrs and 110,725 wounded. However, the toll is expected to be much higher as thousands of victims remain trapped under the rubble.
