
ALGIERS- The Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, received on Tuesday, in Algiers, the executive director of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Samaila Zubairu, with whom he examined the ways of support to Algerian projects in the fields of energy and mines in the country and internationally, the ministry said in a press release.
The meeting was held at the ministry’s headquarters, in the presence of the Secretary of State in charge of Mines, Karima Tafer, the Secretary of State in charge of Renewable Energy, Noureddine Yassaâ, as well as ministry executives and representatives of Sonatrach and Sonarem groups, said the press release.
The two parties discussed investment and partnership opportunities, putting emphasis on major projects in petrochemicals, renewable energy and regional and African electrical interconnection, besides mining projects and new energy.
In this respect, Arkab provided a presentation on the main axes of the development program of the energy, mines and renewable energy sector in Algeria, highlighting the great potentials that the country possesses as well as its role in guaranteeing energy security at regional and continental levels, in phase with the sustainable development goals, according to the same source.
For his part, Zubairu underscored that his institution was ready to support energy and mining projects in Algeria, underlining the AFC’s will to contribute to the diversification of financing sources and to the strengthening of African economic integration, through strategic investments.
