EU Denounces Ongoing Zionist Blockade as Gaza Faces Deepening Humanitarian Crisis

BRUSSELS – The European Union on Thursday expressed grave concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, attributing the crisis largely to the ongoing Zionist blockade that continues to obstruct the flow of essential aid into the besieged Palestinian territory.
Speaking at a press briefing in Brussels, European Commission spokesperson Anna-Kaisa Itkonen stressed that the humanitarian impact on the ground remains severe. She warned that while there has been “partial progress” in areas such as aid trucks, border crossings, and fuel access, the cumulative effects of the blockade have made conditions increasingly dire. “The situation remains very, very difficult in terms of impact on the ground,” she said, adding that the EU still lacks physical access to Gaza and relies entirely on United Nations reports to assess the scale of aid deliveries.
Itkonen noted that Zionist forces continue to deny entry to EU personnel and humanitarian convoys, which severely limits the bloc’s ability to verify the distribution of supplies or assist directly. “We are not where we would want to be in terms of the number of trucks reaching their destination,” she stated.
Echoing her remarks, another Commission spokesperson, Arianna Podesta, reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Gaza’s civilian population and called for increased humanitarian access to the enclave. Despite recent diplomatic efforts, the Zionist entity has yet to grant meaningful concessions.
