EU calls for an “urgent” ceasefire amid concerning escalations in Lebanon

BRUSSELS – The European Union (EU) expressed extreme concern about the escalating situation in Lebanon amid the ongoing aggression, calling for an “urgent” ceasefire in the region, stated EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell on Sunday.

“Civilians are paying a heavy price,” lamented the EU official, adding that these civilians “will again be the ones who suffer the most in a total war that must be avoided.”

Borrell, along with many global officials, is currently in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.

The Zionist escalation in Lebanon has intensified in recent days following devices’ explosions on Tuesday and Wednesday, resulting in 37 martyrs and over 3,000 injuries, alongside an airstrike on Friday on southern Beirut that assumed the lives of 45 people, including children and women, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Health.
