Doctors Against Genocide Calls for U.S. to Halt Military Aid to “Israel”

Doctors Against Genocide (DAG), a global coalition of healthcare professionals, has called on the United States to halt military aid to “Israel” following the detention of medical staff in Gaza.

The coalition mobilized over 50 medical professionals to Capitol Hill to advocate for the release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza. Dr. Safiya, along with others, was detained by Zionist forces during a raid on the hospital on December 27, 2024.

The medical professionals met with members of the House of Representatives and Senate to push for urgent action regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, particularly the destruction of the region’s healthcare system.

Omar Scott Antar, a co-founder of the Connecticut Palestine Alliance, expressed concern over the systematic ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza, with hospitals, including Kamal Adwan Hospital, being targeted. DAG members stressed that the U.S. holds the power to end the violence by stopping military aid to “Israel”.

The call for change in U.S. policy came amid rising tensions, with the U.S. supply of arms contributing to the ongoing violence. Health professionals such as Desmond Kaplan, a psychiatrist from Baltimore, voiced deep concern, urging the U.S. to stop its support for the Zionist occupation and its actions in Gaza.

With the war causing the deaths of almost 46,000 people, mostly women and children, the situation in Gaza remains dire, and calls for accountability have intensified, including arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court for Zionist officials.

The U.S. remains a key player in the ongoing crisis, and international pressure is mounting for a shift in its policy.
