China, Russia, Iran Urge Lifting of Unilateral Sanctions in Joint Statement

In a joint statement, China, Russia, and Iran called for the removal of what they described as “illegal unilateral sanctions” and emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue remain the only viable solutions to addressing Iran’s nuclear program.
The statement urged all concerned parties to refrain from imposing sanctions or using threats of force, stressing the importance of adhering to United Nations Security Council Resolution 6631, including its timeline. The three nations also reaffirmed their commitment to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and underscored the necessity of respecting Iran’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Beijing and Moscow welcomed Tehran’s renewed commitment to the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, while the statement also cautioned against undermining the neutral technical activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
