Cambodia Fully Committed to Implementing Ceasefire With Thailand

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, president of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, said on Wednesday that Cambodia is firmly committed to the strict and full implementation of the ceasefire agreement with Thailand, stressing that the move is essential to restoring peace between the two neighboring countries.

Hun Sen, who also serves as president of the Cambodian Senate, noted that reestablishing calm along the border will not only benefit Cambodia and Thailand but will also contribute to broader peace, security, stability, and prosperity across the region.

He expressed Cambodia’s deep appreciation to friendly countries and the international community for their role in facilitating the agreement, singling out the United States, China, and ASEAN member states. Hun Sen particularly acknowledged Malaysia’s efforts in its capacity as ASEAN Chair for coordinating diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution.

Cambodia and Thailand reached an agreement on an immediate ceasefire on December 27, 2025, following three weeks of armed clashes that resulted in casualties on both sides, marking a significant step toward de-escalation and regional stability.
