CAF Champions League (Group Stage) Draw: MCA in Pot 4, CRB in Pot 2

MC Alger and CR Belouizdad, the two Algerian representatives in the African Champions League, will be placed in pots four and two, respectively, ahead of the draw for the group stage of this prestigious club competition. The draw is scheduled for Monday, October 7, at 12:00 PM (Algerian time) in Cairo, Egypt, as announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Friday.

In addition to MC Alger, pot 4 also includes AS Maniema Union (DR Congo), Djoliba AC from Bamako (Mali), and Stade d’Abidjan (Ivory Coast). In pot 2, alongside CR Belouizdad, are Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Young Africans (Tanzania), and Pyramids FC (Egypt).

It is noteworthy that MC Alger secured their place in the group stage of the Champions League by overcoming Tunisian side US Monastir (first leg: loss 1-0, second leg: win 2-0). Meanwhile, CR Belouizdad qualified for the competition for the fifth consecutive year at the expense of Burkinabe team AS Douanes (first leg: loss 1-0, second leg: win 1-0, penalties: 4-3).

The first matchday of the group stage will take place on November 26 and 27, while the second matchday is set for December 6 and 8.

Pot 1:   Al-Ahly SC (Egypt), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), TP Mazembe (DR Congo)

Pot 2:   CR Belouizdad (Algeria), Raja Casablanca (Morocco), Young Africans (Tanzania), Pyramids FC (Egypt)

Pot 3:   Al-Hilal (Sudan), Orlando Pirates (South Africa), GD Sagrada Esperança (Angola), AS FAR (Morocco)

Pot 4:   MC Alger (Algeria), AS Maniema Union (DR Congo), Djoliba AC from Bamako (Mali), Stade d’Abidjan (Ivory Coast).
