Burkina Faso: Over 100 Terrorists Neutralized in Central-East Region

On July 31, 2024, a total of 103 terrorists were neutralized in the Koulpélogo province of Burkina Faso’s Central-East region, according to local media reports on Friday.
The Burkinabe army, as reported by the Burkina Information Agency (AIB), highlighted that among those killed was Dicko Tidjane, also known as Abou Darda. Tidjane was a notorious murderer leading a group of over 250 men who had been terrorizing the Koulpélogo province.
“Thanks to the bravery of our soldiers, the enemy suffered a crushing defeat and fled, leaving behind 103 bodies on the battlefield,” the AIB stated.
“Their neutralization represents a significant blow to the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims in the Eastern and Central-Eastern regions,” the army noted.
Since 2015, insecurity in this West African nation has claimed many lives and displaced thousands of people.
