Bonatti Expresses Interest in Expanding Investment Presence in Algeria

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received on Monday the CEO of the Italian company “Bonatti”, Andrea Colombo, to discuss prospects for cooperation and partnership between Sonatrach and Bonatti.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, in charge of Mines, Karima Bakir Tafer, and a number of senior ministry officials, the Algerian Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines said in a statement.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore prospects for cooperation and partnership between the Sonatrach Group and Bonatti, as well as to review new investment opportunities in the hydrocarbons sector — particularly in upstream oil and gas activities, field development, increasing natural gas production capacity, and engineering and infrastructure construction in major oil, gas, and mining industry projects, the statement said.
On this occasion, Arkab praised the distinguished relations between Algeria and Italy in the field of hydrocarbons, emphasizing that the existing partnerships between Algerian and Italian companies represent a successful model of cooperation based on trust, knowledge transfer, and the complementarity of economic interests, particularly in light of global shifts in energy markets.
Both parties also emphasized the importance of strengthening technical and investment cooperation and exploring new opportunities in upcoming structural projects, in a way that contributes to the development of Algeria’s hydrocarbons sector and reinforces the strategic Algerian-Italian partnership in the fields of hydrocarbons and mining.
For his part, Andrea Colombo expressed Bonatti’s interest in strengthening its investment presence in Algeria and continuing to develop cooperative relations with the Sonatrach Group, particularly through the launch of new projects in the fields of hydrocarbon exploitation and transportation, as well as infrastructure related to hydrocarbons and major mining projects, the statement said, adding that he expressed the company’s readiness to provide innovative engineering and technical solutions that contribute to enhancing the efficiency of energy projects and support Algeria’s goals in energy transition and emission reduction.
It is worth noting that Bonatti, headquartered in Parma, Italy, is one of the leading European companies specializing in engineering, construction, and industrial services in the oil, gas, and energy sectors. With over 75 years of experience in executing major projects across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Bonatti has established itself as a trusted partner in carrying out numerous projects with Sonatrach in Algeria over the years.
