Arab League Condemns Zionist Airstrikes in Syria as Provocative Escalation

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has condemned Zionist airstrikes on Syria as a “reckless provocation” aimed at exploiting the country’s political transition. In a statement on Wednesday, Aboul Gheit denounced the strikes on Al-Kiswah and Izraa, calling them an attempt to impose an “illegal and illegitimate reality.” He urged the international community to take a firm stance against the attacks, warning that they threaten to escalate regional tensions and obstruct Syria’s transition.
Zionist forces confirmed the strikes, justifying them as a response to Syrian regime forces establishing themselves in the southern security zone. Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also called for the demilitarization of southern Syria, asserting that Zionist forces will remain in the buffer zone indefinitely. Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December, the Zionist entity expanded its occupation of the Golan Heights, violating the 1974 disengagement agreement and intensifying airstrikes across Syria.
The UN and several Arab nations have condemned Zionist military actions in the Golan Heights, which the zionist entity has occupied since 1967. Meanwhile, Syria is undergoing a political transition, with Ahmed al-Sharaa assuming the presidency on January 29 and appointing Mohammed Al-Bashir to form a new government. The Arab League reaffirmed its solidarity with Syria, denouncing Zionist efforts to exploit the situation and destabilize the region.
