Algeria’s Madjid Bougherra Appointed New Coach of Lebanon National Team

The Lebanese Football Association announced Wednesday that Algerian coach Madjid Bougherra has been appointed as the new coach of its national team, though contract terms were not disclosed.

Bougherra replaces Montenegro’s Miodrag Radulovi? as head coach of the “Cedars,” the Lebanese Association said in a statement posted on social media.

The Lebanese Football Association hopes the appointment of the Algerian coach, who led his country to the 2021 Arab Cup title, will elevate the national team’s performance and deliver concrete results, the statement added.

The former Algerian national team captain resigned from his position as coach of Algeria’s domestic-based squad immediately after their quarter-final elimination from the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, held in Qatar from 1 to 18 December 2025.

Prior to that, Bougherra had led the team at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which took place last August across Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
