Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour clinches silver on balance beam at 2025 World Gymnastics Championships

Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour claimed silver on Saturday in the balance beam final at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Fresh off her Friday victory on the uneven bars, Nemour posted a score of 14.300 in the beam final, placing second behind China’s Zhang Qingying (15.166), the gold medalist, and edging out Japan’s Sugihara Aiko (14.166) for silver.
On Friday, she had captured the world title on uneven bars at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, making history as the first Arab and African gymnast to win a world championship in the discipline.
In addition to Nemour, Algeria’s delegation features six additional representatives: Adem Koughat, Houssam-Eddine Hamdouche, Bilel Bellaoui, Youcef Semani and Ahmed Ryad Aliouet on the men’s side, along with Sihem Hamidi on the women’s side.
The championships have drawn 483 gymnasts (279 men and 204 women) representing 82 countries, marking the first major international gathering since the Paris 2024 Olympics.
