Algerian students shine in Huawei ICT Competition

The Algerian teams achieved an outstanding feat at the 2025 Huawei ICT Competition held in Shenzhen, China, securing multiple prestigious awards, in a global event that featured the participation of over 200,000 students from 114 countries worldwide.
According to the Algerian Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, the Algerian students won the grand prize in both the Computing and Cloud categories, while the Network team secured first place. Additionally, Abderraouf Abla from the University of Boumerdes, received the grand prize in the Teaching Competition. The Innovation team, participating for the first time, earned third place.
The grand prize is the highest and most prestigious award presented to the winners at the global finals of the Huawei ICT Competition.
The list of Algerian students who were awarded in this global competition includes Abdelrahman Talbi, Mohamed Mahloul, and Abdelrahman Della from the Higher School of Computer Science in Sidi Bel Abbès, who competed in the Computing category under the guidance of telecommunications engineer Anis Massoudi.
In the Cloud category, the winners were Imad Eddine Megrane and Amira Bellali from the Higher School of Computer Science in Algiers, supervised by telecommunications engineer Sofiane Kara and cloud engineer Ishak El Arabi.
In the Network category, the winners were Elias Merzouga from the National Institute of Telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies in Oran, Aya Sarah Beldi from the University of Algiers 1, and Ibrahim Snoussi from the Higher School of Computer Science in Sidi Bel Abbès. The team was supervised by telecommunications engineer Mokhtar Merah.
The winners in the “Innovation” category were Sofiane Chelghoum from the Higher School of Computer Science and Digitalization in Béjaïa, Ranim Mehalta from Setif 1 University, Walid Kassoum from the National Higher School of Advanced Technologies, and Marwa Ben Tazi from the University of Science and Technology in Oran.
It is noteworthy that all the mentors who supervised the winning teams are graduates of Algerian universities and certified trainers at the Huawei ICT Academy. Having previously won in Huawei’s global competition themselves, they bring a high level of expertise and mentorship to the program. This remarkable achievement underscores the academic and practical excellence of Algerian students in the field of technology and reinforces Algeria’s standing as a key contributor of talent in the global information and communication technology sector.
