Algerian Presidential Election : Candidates Reaffirm Commitment to Preserving State’s Social Character

During the presidential campaign for the September 7 election, candidates and their representatives emphasized their commitment to preserving Algeria’s social character and addressing citizen concerns. They urged a strong voter turnout to bolster national unity.
Youcef Aouchiche, the candidate from the Front of Socialist Forces (FFS), vowed to address citizens’ concerns through tangible measures, including increasing the minimum wage to DZD40,000 and revising allowances for lower-income groups. He also promised judicial reforms and encouraged voters to participate actively in the election to drive change.
Brahim Merad, campaign director for independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune, called on students and young people to vote for Tebboune, highlighting his achievements and commitment to addressing their needs. Abdelkrim Benmbarek (FLN) and Mustapha Yahi (RND) also supported Tebboune’s re-election for continuing his reforms. Other party leaders, including Abdelkader Bengrina and Fateh Boutbig, echoed this support.
Abdelaali Hassani Cherif, candidate of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), promised to enhance the social safety net through wealth redistribution, improved social benefits, and new allowances for vulnerable groups. He pledged to revise wage scales and transform unemployment benefits into integration allowances. Fatma Saidane from the MSP highlighted Hassani Cherif’s focus on integrating women into socio-economic development and meeting the aspirations of the people.
