Algerian President: Martyrs’ eternal legacy to guarantee victory in battle for development

Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed on Sunday that the eternal message of Algeria’s martyrs remains a legacy that guarantees victory in the country’s ongoing battle for development, adding that the construction of the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Bechar mining railway is a cornerstone of a strategic and historic national achievement.
In a speech delivered during the inauguration of this massive strategic project, the President said this marks “a definitive step toward realizing a historic national achievement that was once dismissed as an unattainable dream.” He noted that the project was successfully realized, “inspired by the patriotic spirit that moved our ancestors and gave them the strength to confront colonialism.”
“Inspired by the spirit of our great martyrs, may Allah bless them, we believe that determination will bring success. Their eternal message is a legacy capable of achieving victory in the battle for development. What a great challenge,” President Tebboune said.
He explained that today’s symbolic celebration marks the completion of this “giant project” in the record time of less than 20 months.
He stated that such a timeframe “is barely enough to complete a secondary school, which sometimes requires three years,” emphasizing that this project demonstrates Algeria’s ability to meet challenges.
He noted it was completed through “Algerian will, funding and executives, in collaboration with our Chinese partners.” The President of the Republic emphasized that this historic project reflects “an integrated strategic vision for the development and investment of our natural resources and national wealth,” while effectively “connecting the Great South with the rest of the country.”
He further noted that the inauguration of this mining line represents “the first phase of a structured national project that will change the face of the Great South in the near future.” All necessary resources have been harnessed, he said, “to achieve the desired goals for Algeria, a proud and victorious country making great strides toward freeing itself from dependence on fossil fuels.” He attributed this progress to the country’s natural bounty and the “sincere national will and seasoned executives capable of carrying Algeria forward, regardless of the cost or sacrifice.”
The President of the Republic pointed out that the technical feats of the project, including 20 km of bridges and the complex layout of the railway, could earn it an entry in the Guinness World Records.
He described the project as a “miracle shaped by men who believed in their country and sacrificed for it,” expressing his pride in all Algerians involved.
Concluding his remarks, President Tebboune expressed “sincere gratitude and appreciation to all those who supervised and worked in difficult weather conditions to achieve this project.” He thanked the talented staff across various fields, as well as the Chinese partners, for their role in this national achievement.
