Algerian President Highlights Judicial Reforms and Governance in 2024-2025 Judicial Year Address

The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his capacity as President of the High Judicial Council (CSM), presided over the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 judicial year at the Supreme Court headquarters in Algiers. Upon arrival, he was received by Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Lotfi Boudjemaa, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Tahar Mamouni, and other members of the Supreme Court and the Council of State. 

In his address following the opening ceremony, President Tebboune emphasized, on Monday, Algeria’s progress in establishing a robust judicial system rooted in republican values and fortified by the confidence of the people. He lauded the dedication of the judiciary, noting that the country’s institutions are strengthened by the integrity and commitment of those serving within them. “You, the esteemed judges, deserve my utmost respect,” he stated, underscoring their role in upholding justice and the rule of law.

The President highlighted key reforms achieved since the adoption of the new constitution, which has bolstered judicial independence and governance. Legislative updates, he noted, have fulfilled his commitments to ethical governance and the relentless fight against corruption and misconduct. He praised efforts to modernize the justice sector, resulting in improved performance and the elimination of bureaucratic inefficiencies.

Looking forward, Tebboune expressed confidence in further advancements, particularly in digitalization and modernization. He also condemned international injustices, including the plight of Palestinians, extending gratitude to principled nations like South Africa for their solidarity with global justice causes.
