Algerian President: Desalination Plants Establish Algerian Model for Major Projects

BOUMERDES, March 11, 2025 – Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stated on Tuesday in Boumerdes that the recent completion of seawater desalination plants in record time has established the foundation for a uniquely Algerian approach to executing significant projects.

“As I mentioned during the inauguration of the three desalination plants before the Cap Djinet 2 facility, it is a tremendous source of pride to fulfill a duty for which our brave martyrs sacrificed themselves during the Revolution. Today, we are realizing their dreams, especially this March, which honors the martyrs who fell during our glorious Liberation Revolution,” declared the President after attending two technical presentations on the operations and construction of the Cap Djinet 2 seawater desalination plant.

“Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Liberation Revolution, it is essential to connect past events and achievements, remembering what our ancestors accomplished while confronting the mightiest armies during the Revolution. Thanks to God, we can take pride in and celebrate what our children have accomplished for our beloved country,” he added.

The President also commended the “entirely Algerian” execution of the desalination plants. “The studies were conducted by Algerians, the construction was carried out by Algerians, and all the technicians, executives, and workers are Algerians,” he noted, emphasizing that this achievement, realized in just 26 months, is “the dream of every Algerian.”

The establishment of desalination facilities in our country has “laid the groundwork for an Algerian model in project realization,” asserted the President, adding that these strategic projects serve as a template for “executing major initiatives.”

On this occasion, he congratulated citizens on this significant achievement, reaffirming that meeting the needs of people across the nation is “his primary concern.

Furthermore, the President reminded attendees that the creation of seawater desalination plants aims to address the consequences of insufficient rainfall and to conserve groundwater resources, noting that Boumerdes, which “experienced certain delays during the national tragedy in the 1990s, is now beginning to benefit from various development projects.”

In closing, the President renewed his gratitude to all executives and workers for “everything they have accomplished” in bringing this project to fruition, stressing that “this is the path we have charted from the beginning: to catch up on the delays experienced in all areas in order to join emerging and advanced countries. We are on the right track.”
