Algiers – After taking the oath of office, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune delivered a significant address to the nation, expressing profound gratitude to the Algerian people for their trust and support. “I extend my highest thanks to the great Algerian people for the confidence they have bestowed upon me,” Tebboune stated. He also commended his presidential competitors, Hassani Cherif and Youcef Aouchiche, for their fair and honorable campaign, emphasizing that the presidential elections were a success.
Tebboune highlighted the importance of the term he now carries during a sensitive international period. He praised the Algerian National Army and security forces for their vigilance in maintaining order throughout the elections. Looking ahead, the president outlined plans for extensive consultations and national dialogue with all key national actors “to enshrine true democracy.” He stressed that Algeria is currently witnessing significant development projects across various sectors, including mining and railways, and has achieved remarkable progress in agriculture, reducing imports to their lowest levels.
The President announced ambitious goals for his term, including achieving self-sufficiency in durum wheat by 2025 and in barley and corn by 2026. He reported nearly 9,000 registered investment projects with the Algerian Investment Agency and aims to reach 20,000 projects by the end of his term. Tebboune also committed to building two million housing units, addressing the “grey areas” issue within the first year, and protecting purchasing power through inflation control and wage increases. Emphasizing a commitment to maintaining high growth rates and a strong industrial contribution to GDP, he assured the nation of continued dedication to Algeria’s progress under the banner of a victorious Algeria.
