Algerian APN’s President Received by the President of Parlatino

The President of the Algerian National People’s Assembly (APN), Brahim Boughali, was received in Panama City by Rolando Patricio Gonzalez, the President of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino), as announced in a communiqué from the upper chamber of Parliament on Wednesday.
Before the national flags were raised, Boughali was welcomed on Tuesday at the Parlatino headquarters in Panama City by its President, according to the communiqué.
During this meeting, both parties expressed their satisfaction with “the convergence of views on several issues of mutual interest” and reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two institutions. The communiqué further noted that Boughali “extended his best wishes to Rolando Patricio on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the establishment of this esteemed regional parliament.”
Boughali emphasized that the APN, “as an observer member of Parlatino and the current president of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (UIPA), will work towards establishing an Arab-Latin American dialogue,” highlighting that “Algeria will make a positive contribution to this Latin American parliamentary space.”
He also called for “intensifying efforts to enhance coordination among regional parliaments in international forums,” stressing “the significance and role of national and regional parliaments in shaping international decisions.”
For his part, the President of Parlatino expressed pleasure over Algeria’s participation in this session, viewing its membership as “one of the notable achievements of Parlatino in 2024.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Boughali signed the Parlatino guestbook, symbolizing the intention to “forge strong and promising relations between the two parties.”
The meeting was attended by Algeria’s Ambassador to Managua (Nicaragua), Ali Menguellati, along with deputies Rachid Bouamri, Merouane Refice, and Ali Moualhi, underscoring “the importance Algeria places on enhancing its cooperation with Parlatino,” the communiqué concluded.
