Algeria : Undersea power cable agreement with European partners to be signed soon

Algiers- the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, stated on Sunday that the two public groups, Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, will soon sign an agreement with international partners as a starting point to build an undersea power cable towards the European continent for electricity exports.
Speaking to the press on the sidelines of his visit to the headquarters of the Electric System Operator (OSE), the minister has indicated that the contracts signed by Sonatrach and Sonelgaz aim to construct an undersea electric cable connecting Algeria with Europe, allowing Algeria to export conventional electricity produced from natural gas or other alternatives, as well as renewable energies.
Additionally, Arkab has emphasized the progressive preparations to sign the contracts, endeavouring to start the contruction immediately.
